Transport Topics Honors Two Industry Professionals With 2021 Trucking’s Frontline Heroes Awards

October 26, 2021

NASHVILLE – Transport Topics today recognized two industry professionals whose efforts this year helped people affected by natural disasters with the 2021 Trucking’s Frontline Heroes Awards during a presentation at the American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference & Exhibition.

Cully Frisard, COO of Frisard Companies in Gramercy, LA., and Gene Woolsey, retired truck driver and volunteer for Springfield, MO.-based Convoy of Hope were honored during the ceremony, which recognized the efforts both made in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida and other natural disasters that impacted the United States this year.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to recognize some of our industry’s shining stars when we present this year’s Transport Topics' Trucking’s Frontline Heroes Award,” said Sue Hensley, Publisher, Transport Topics. “And there is no better place to announce these awardees than ATA’s MCE meeting in Nashville, the most important annual gathering of industry leaders."

Cully Frisard is the COO of Frisard Companies, a family-owned transportation business based in Gramercy, Louisiana. Hurricane Ida hit Gramercy and neighboring parishes hard, but Frisard pushed through to help the community by delivering loads of relief goods to affected areas. Frisard paid his company’s drivers for assisting with the volunteer effort. “It is just the right thing to do,” Frisard said.

Gene Woolsey has been a professional driver since the 1970’s. After retiring five years ago, Woolsey wanted to do something to help others and become involved with Convoy of Hope, a non-profit organization that provides food, supplies, and humanitarian services. When Texas experienced power outages earlier in the year, Woolsey committed to delivering three loads of supplies; in the wake of Hurricane Ida, he volunteered to deliver four loads from Missouri to southern Louisiana.

Transport Topics' Trucking's Frontline Heroes is an annual award meant to recognize hard-working trucking professionals who meet challenges confronting the industry and the country, and go above and beyond their everyday duties to provide assistance to those in need.

This year, Transport Topics' Trucking's Frontline Heroes Awards were sponsored by DMC Insurance.
