In January 2025, a wildfire erupted in Los Angeles County and rapidly spread to Pacific Palisades, Topanga and Malibu.
The most destructive wildfire in the history of Los Angeles, the Palisades fire claimed the lives of 12 people, destroyed over 6,000 structures and displaced many more. People who lost homes, livelihoods and loved ones were in desperate need of aid.
From his home in Utah, Landon Cheatham followed reports of the devastation. As operations manager at Alex D. Delivery, he regularly drives to California and decided to help by soliciting donations from friends and neighbors.
On Facebook, what started as a simple request for spare goods grew into a massive call to action.
Over 30 local businesses and business owners quickly mobilized to organize community donations, connect with L.A. based charities, and even bring out a food truck to feed volunteers.
Tons of supplies were collected, palletized and delivered to those displaced by the fire – and it all began with Landon.
Today, Transport Topics honors Landon Cheatham. His compassion not only inspired him to serve people in need but also inspired his community. For this, Cheatham is the deserving recipient of the 2025 Transport Topics Trucking’s Frontline Heroes award.
