2024 Heroes Video: Boyd Bros. Transportation, DMT Trucking, and P&S Transportation

October 16, 2024

In early 2024, a crisis ignited in the heart of Texas. Wildfires tore through vast stretches of pastureland, leaving ranchers in urgent need. With grazing lands reduced to ashes, their cattle were left without food. The situation grew desperate, and a call for help echoed across state lines.

Responding swiftly, the Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries, along with the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association and the Alabama Trucking Association, launched a hay relief effort in late March. The task ahead was monumental: getting critical supplies to the devastated Texas ranches in time.

Boyd Bros. Transportation, DMT Trucking, and P&S Transportation rose to the challenge. With unwavering determination, they took on the daunting task of transporting truckload after truckload of hay across hundreds of miles.

These companies quickly rallied for their neighbors. By April 2, the first wave of relief arrived: five truckloads of hay delivered, seven more on the way, and nine additional loads scheduled later that week. In total, 21 truckloads made their journey from Alabama to Texas—a lifeline for cattle and a beacon of hope for ranchers. Together, they ensured no cattle would go hungry and no rancher would be left alone in the aftermath of destruction.

Today, Transport Topics honors Boyd Bros. Transportation, DMT Trucking, and P&S Transportation. Their extraordinary efforts delivered more than just hay—they delivered hope.

For this, they are the proud recipients of the 2024 Transport Topics Trucking’s Frontline Heroes award.
